Brooklyn Dominican Parade & Festival, Inc. , was founded on August 25, 2000 by Mrs. Estella Jimenez whom also is president, and Co-founders Rafael Lolet Santamaria, and Jose Muñiz.

The Brooklyn Dominican Parade & Festival, Inc. is an Organization that have the intention to bring together the Dominicans and Latin American Community in the Tri-State area in order to celebrate our roots and richness of our culture. Our organization is a community oriented group interested in the many issues affecting the people who lives in our neighborhoods.

We also organize food drives, health fairs and collection functions to help not only the people here but also these less fortunate in countries like Haiti , Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, and for Katrina also, etc. be sure that whatever assistance we get we use it in the assistance and development of our programs.

Every year we celebrated the Parade & Festival very exciting and we have teamed up to present this celebration on the last Sunday of August. We  started  Marching along Graham Ave & Broadway , ending on Montrose Ave & Lorimer Street at front (Lindsay Park) until 2006. In 2007 we Marched from Graham Ave & Brodway to Mckarrien Park, in 2008 from Meeker Street  & Graham  Ave to Grham Ave & broadway , in 2009 Graham Ave & Broadway ending in Bushwick Ave & Stagg Street with a Festival inside Eastern District school yard;  because we was looking to accomodate our spectators.  This year 2010 we will start marching  from Graham Avenue & Grand Street ending in Graham Ave & Broadway  following with a Festival in Graham Ave & Debevoise Street.

This celebration brings hundreds of people proudly to March and thousands of spectators have lined Graham Ave to watch and enjoying lucking the floats, The Diablos Cojuelos, Ballet Groups, etc.

We invite you to participate with us we plan to celebrate it with music , dances and traditional food.

This is also commemorates the century aniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Dominican Republic and pays homege to general Gregorio Luperon who head the movement toward liberty on August 16, 1865 , after a hard-fought struggle, the permanent decree annulling the annexation of the Dominican Republic by Spain represented the historic final step in securing freedom for the Dominican people.
